Explore STEM in Action: NASA Astronauts

From aboard the International Space Station, NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway participated in an in-flight interview with Pre-ETS students, discussing life and work aboard the orbital outpost. Through programs like Pre-ETS, students with disabilities across Missouri explore career pathways, build workplace readiness skills, and develop self-advocacy alongside the support of educators and specialists. For this event, 17 students were selected from more than 750 student-submitted questions from across the state to have their questions answered by astronauts, highlighting the powerful opportunities available to students. Experiences like this build confidence and help students envision their future roles in their communities as they transition into adulthood.

Astronaut and former University of Missouri professor Linda Godwin shares her career journey, highlighting the value of persistence, teamwork and exploring a wide range of interests when pursuing opportunities in STEM.
